Who is Jesus?

What is Christianity?

Christianity is a faith based on the personal belief in the works and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Christian believes that Jesus’ death on the cross is effective in reconciling him to God, with God forgiving his sins on account of Jesus’ death for him. He fellowship with God is restored, and this is the beginning of eternal life.

What do Christians believe?

We believe that God is the creator of the universe, including mankind.

We believe that every person has sinned. Sin is failing to meet God’s perfect standard and rejecting him from our lives.
Romans 3:23 states “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

In addition, we believe that because God is just, there is a required penalty for sin. Just like when we break a law, we will be punished for it (i.e. pay a fine, go to jail). The penalty for sin is a broken relationship with God resulting in both physical and spiritual death, which is ultimately eternal separation from a holy God.

God knows we are completely helpless, no matter how hard we try to make amends for our moral failure.

God took the initiative to send His Son, Jesus Christ, to become a man and die on the cross. This was in order to take the punishment for our sins on our behalf. The essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ is this, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16.

Everyone needs to make a personal decision about believing in Jesus Christ. This is a life and death decision with eternal consequences.

However, this is not all there is to what Christians believe. This is only the beginning of a spiritual journey. Come along to one of our OCF meetings on Friday nights and we’d be glad to have a discussion with you! Or, you can also email us with your questions at (ocfcarltoncom [at] gmail.com).
