About Us

History

OCF began when several groups of international students met from around Australia and discovered they shared the same vision. They found they were in a unique situation to fulfil Jesus’ Great Commission – to reach and make disciples of all nations.

Here was a large group of people from all over the world, come to Australia to study, separated here from familiar friends and family. They shared this vision to band together and provide not only support and friendship for each other and other new arrivals to Australia, but to share the good news about what Jesus has done for us, and to assist each other to learn and grow up in their lives.

To become mature people who love Christ and others, fit and useful for the churches they would return to.

Currently

OCF Carlton is proud of the opportunity to be a part of this work – to tell and show Christ from the bible: to share the good news of what the cross has achieved to those who have not heard or have been misinformed, and to remind those who love the Lord of the incredible life the cross has brought us.

Why join us?

We welcome anyone to join us, religious or not, from whatever country, culture or denomination – you are invited to taste the warmth and care of people whom Christ has loved, savour the authentic (or not) cooking of our students and families, and please join us as we enjoy tasting/knowing God better through the teaching of God word in the bible.

Whether you know Christ or not, come and share with us your friendships, tummies, ears, hands and minds as we learn together to enjoy this life that God has given us. There are many opportunities to ask questions and observe – and choose whether to continue to join us in our learning or not.

We also welcome you to share with us in the joys and heartbreaks, lessons and questions, achievements and disappointments of running and serving in a vibrant Christian fellowship – or, in other words – of growing and maturing one another, together as a Christian community.

What we value

Our major emphasis is on the teaching of the bible as THE authority for our lives,

• To know from the bible who God is and what His purpose is for us in the world He has created;
• To apply what we learn from the Word of God into our daily lives;
• To learn the habit of always going back to the bible to find answers for our questions;
• To get the skills to see for ourselves what the bible is teaching.

We challenge you to know and live your lives for Christ our Lord. It is not just by chance that we are here studying. We can choose only to play and study in Australia, or to also make our lives count for God. OCF Carlton is an environment where you can grow, hand in hand with other brothers and sisters in Christ, into better men and women for God.
